Details about the Xbox One continue to trickle out, and today we’ve got a doozy. Polygon is reporting that the Xbox One will have the ability to let friends take over gameplay remotely. The feature will be powered by Skype.
Say you’re stuck in a level against a really difficult boss. Your friend has already beaten the boss and you need some help. The only problem is your friend isn’t with you. With remote gameplay via Skype your friend will be able to take over the game and play for you. The original player can switch back in at any time.
The Xbox One will also take voice commands to a whole new level. Not only will you be able to talk to the One, but it will be able to talk to you as well. One example of the slightly creepy technology is the Kinect scanning faces in the room, if it doesn’t recognize someone it will ask them to identify themselves. Once identified they will be added to the Xbox.
What do you think of these new features? Remote gameplay sounds pretty awesome, but the Kinect speaking to people in the room is a bit creepy. It sounds like the Xbox One will have some excellent new technology, and Skype and Windows are behind it.
