Microsoft takes it to the iPad again with new Windows 8 ad

Last week Microsoft released a video for Windows 8 which put it head-to-head against the Apple iPad. It was a very clever and playful ad that showed off a few things that the iPad can’t do, and Siri narrated the whole thing. Over the weekend Microsoft released another anti-iPad ad, but this time a little more serious.

The new ad shows off many of the same things shown in the previous ad, but it swaps out the Siri narration for text graphics. The ad showcases the Asus VivoTab RT, again, and shows off its thickness and weight against the 4th gen iPad. Next up is OneNote, multitasking, SD cards, and printing. As you might have guessed the VivoTab RT wins all the comparisons. Do you like this ad, or do you prefer the funnier Siri ad?

I see Microsoft commercials bashing all their competitors. Which when it’s funny, it’s great. One thing is lacking though. Showing off what Windows phones can do? How do you market your own product while showing off the competitor’s product most?

That was a really good commercial. Honest. I liked it a lot. After getting my Lumia 521, and being extremely happy with it, I had already planned on getting a Windows 8 tablet. I have an iPod Touch and am not happy with the various things involved with it (not Apple bashing just irked, even after nearly 3 years of using an iPod Touch).

For me, Office is a must have app. Alternatives will work but why settle if I don’t have to?
