Verizon Nokia Lumia 929 with 5-inch 1080p display coming November 21st

Lumia_929

We’ve been so busy getting ready for the Lumia 1520 that we’ve overlooked the rumored Lumia 929 for Verizon. We’ve heard a few tidbits about this phone in the past, but it was never announced at Nokia World like some expected. Today a new rumor has this phone pegged for a release date one day earlier than the Lumia 1520.

The 929 is a slightly smaller version of the Lumia 1520. Instead of a giant 6-inch display they have a more reasonable 5-inch size. The other specs are largely the same. 20MP camera, Quad core Snapdragon processor, and 2GB of RAM. The rumor says the 929 will launch on November 21st, a day before the Lumia 1520, 2520, and Xbox One launch. Verizon is trying to beat them to the punch. Pricing was not discussed, but we imagine it will be the standard $199.

If only I could upgrade my HTC 8X. I hate waiting two years, but I also don’t want to pay $500-700 every time a new phone comes out :(

I really liked the design of the 928 better….

I feel your pain Chris. Especially considering all the HTC issues I’ve had. I bought a 928 on EBAY because I just couldn’t stand the thought of fighting with my HTC for two years.

I’ve had my 920 for a year and I love it. I’m interested in getting a larger screen though, but they still haven’t come up with the right option for me.

I tried the 1520 at the AT&T store. I really wanted to like it, but it’s just too damn big. It’s basically a tablet that also makes phone calls. It’s a beautiful device, but operating with one hand is basically impossible and it looks ridiculous when you hold it to your head to make a call. It would be just right if they made it 5.5, but as it is now, it’s just too much.

The 929 would be just what I was looking for, except for 1 thing: the battery. It has a larger screen, but the same size battery as the 920. Since the 920′s battery already leaves something to be desired, it would only be worse with a larger screen.

*Sigh* I don’t know why they just can’t seem to get it right.
