The deal is now official. Today Nokia’s shareholders signed off on the $7.2 billion acquisition of the company’s hardware division by Microsoft. 99.7% of the investors voted in favor of the deal. The deal was expected to be approved, but now it can officially be considered a done deal. Nokia has been on the rise ever since this deal was announced. It’s no wonder the shareholders approved.

It’s still not clear how Microsoft will handle Nokia’s Lumia and Asha divisions. Ballmer mentioned that he thought they could find better names for Lumia phones and now they won’t have any secrets from each other. Whether Microsoft decides to put Lumia under their own Surface brand or keep things exactly the same, Nokia hardware is here to stay. For that we can be glad.
