Microsoft had another successful BUILD conference last week, with developer uptake on the new Windows Phone 8 SDK doubling that of the first 8 days of the Windows Phone 7.1 SDK. Keep in mind this may be because Microsoft offered Windows Phone 8 developer accounts for only $8 during this promotional period. Still, an average of around 1,500 developers downloaded the SDK in the first eight days of availability. This makes the WP8 SDK the fastest downloading software development kit Microsoft has released this year.
Of course, whether or not this translates into more high profile developers for Windows Phone 8 remains to be seen, but shared code and an overall great enthusiasm about both Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 could spell success for Microsoft.
