There has been some debate about whether it’s fair to compare the Surface to tablets such as the iPad. Some say it is more like an ultrabook than a tablet. The fact of the matter is Microsoft has created the Surface to compete with the iPad and other Android tablets, so that is exactly what we are going to do today. Here is our side-by-side comparison of the Surface 2, iPad 4th gen, and Nexus 10.
Power
All three of the devices above have relatively similar processors. The Surface 2 has a quad-core processor, which puts it in the lead, but the iPad and Nexus 10 are due for a refresh soon. For the time being Surface 2 wins on raw power, but very soon this will be a draw. In terms of memory and storage the devices are all on level playing field.
Pixels
The Surface 2 may be the newest device in this chart, but it still has the lowest resolution. the Nexus 10 wins this round with an amazing 2560 x 1500 10-inch display. The iPad and Surface 2 displays are certainly nothing to scoff at, but they won’t look as nice as the Nexus 10.
Price
The Surface 2 is smack dab in the middle of the pricing comparisons. Sitting at $450 it is $50 cheaper than the iPad and $50 more expensive than the Nexus 10.
