Question How different is Game development to app development?

Is XNA very different to silverlight? I'm an absolute beginner and am curious.

I'm no developer, but I think I can answer this with a definitive yes.

It is kinda different, XNA uses game loop and ticks every frame, Silverlight is event-based. Also XNA can render 3D. Silverlight has nicer text and shape rendering. The best thing? You can use both - Siverlight for game interface, XNA for the game itself

When I was attempting to develop I only semi-learned C#, so I forgot about the dual-development languages thing! Nice catch!

It's a really nice thing about .Net languages you can even probably use Silverlight for the UI, C# for XNA and F# for some more mathematically inteve stuff, say, physics But I haven't tried that yet, I actually rediscovered F# just yesterday

Can you also incorporate XNA elements in a silverlight app?

Today I learned that there was an F# language! Microsoft is skiing ailverlight though, as it maybe be to blame for scrolling issues and app sluggishness. Apparently Microsoft is rumored to support native code as the main method of developing apps. We'll see when Apollo drops

XNA can handle more complicated case.
Why not use Silverlight+XNA template to develop your game?
