Reports Say the Microsoft Surface will be WiFi Only at Launch

The Microsoft Surface tablet turned more than a few heads on Monday, but new reports are saying that the tablet will be WiFi only at launch. Microsoft has not yet commented on the rumors and whether a cellular version will be available, but it makes sense given that no carrier as stepped in and thrown their support behind the brand new tablet.

According to Bloomberg, the Surface will not have a cellular version available at launch, citing several unnamed sources. Of course, Bloomberg does not make a distinction between the Windows RT tablet and the Windows 8 Pro, so it could be that either of these are without cellular while Microsoft works out options for the other.

If this rumor turns out to be true, will this affect whether or not you’ll be purchasing the Surface? Is 4G access important to you as a tablet owner?
