Microsoft Confirms it has no Intention to Create Windows Phones

Rumors have been flying about Microsoft entering the phone hardware market now that it has announced its own tablet but today those rumors are finally put to rest. Senior marketing manager Greg Sullivan confirmed to Information Week that the company has no plans to develop their own cell phones. “No, we do not,” Sullivan stated. ”We have a strong ecosystem of partners that we are very satisfied with.”

It looks like Nokia, Huawei, Samsung, and HTC can breathe easy as Microsoft won’t be entering a competing device to set standards. Now, whether or not Microsoft will acquire Nokia as its stock continues to fall is another matter entirely.

    D’awww… I think it would be cool if they did their own line that was kinda like the Nexus line for Android, where Microsoft just showed how the shit could be in it’s pure, untouched vanilla form.

    But this is not android. Aside from a few Manufacturer specific apps, the OS for WP is the same on every phone.
