Rumors have been flying about Microsoft entering the phone hardware market now that it has announced its own tablet but today those rumors are finally put to rest. Senior marketing manager Greg Sullivan confirmed to Information Week that the company has no plans to develop their own cell phones. “No, we do not,” Sullivan stated. ”We have a strong ecosystem of partners that we are very satisfied with.”
It looks like Nokia, Huawei, Samsung, and HTC can breathe easy as Microsoft won’t be entering a competing device to set standards. Now, whether or not Microsoft will acquire Nokia as its stock continues to fall is another matter entirely.
