Microsoft just couldn’t let July end without another doozy of an announcement. Today the team at Redmond have taken the wraps off a brand new webmail replacement for Hotmail called Outlook.com. If that name sounds familiar it should, there will now be Outlook desktop and web clients. Outlook.com is a clean, Metro-inspired, webmail experience to compete with Gmail.
Let’s take a look at the features Microsoft is offering with Outlook.com. First and foremost, you will get 7GB of online SkyDrive storage. Facebook chat is present in the Outlook.com as well, as you can see in the video below. Skype video calling can be done directly from the web without launching the app. Besides Facebook and Skype, there is Twitter, Gmail, and LinkedIn integration for bringing contacts over.
Outlook.com looks to be an exciting new webmail option. It’s completely free and available to try out now. Is it enough to make you switch from your current provider?
Thanks Mark!
