One of the many criticisms of Windows Phone 8 is the fact that once the lockscreen comes up and the screen turns off, WiFi goes with it. Now the HTC 8S is the first Windows Phone device to allow WiFi to stay on while the display is off. This comes in the form of a setting that needs to be activated in the Settings menu and we’re expecting it’s something that will be added to the Portico update once that goes live sometime next year.
Still, for our European friends who will be able to get their hands on the HTC 8S, this is a welcome boon to the device.

The rumor that the HTC 8S would bring this functionality was first reported back on November 22nd and it is now 100% confirmed.
