Windows vs iOS, Android, Blackberry, WebOS

I wonder how the Motorola purchase by Google and fragmentation of that OS will affect Android's status. Kindle Fire proved you could use Android to produce something a bit better. Will we see other manufacturers taking that step and creating versions of Android?

I've been kind of wondering the same thing. I doubt something like that will happen for a while in phones, but it's very likely there will be attempts to duplicate the Fire in tablets. And I expect Motorola will make one of the Nexus's in the near future with Google's recent acquisition.

I honestly do believe nokia is going to save windows phone. I've seen so many lumia 800's around the place here where I live, I no longer feel like the solo WP7 user in New Zealand It has the potential to overtake iOS. I think android will be the clear winner for a long long time, and as that gains traction, the iPhone will become less and less the "default" smart phone for those wanting an upgrade.

A wide range of ideas and functionality is available with every platform..In the end it comes down to Customer Satisfaction, pricing and understanding the trends ( Google is way ahead on this with its services..This is the prime reason i feel android is having the share it has to this day..)

Hasn't been before, but I went to the mall the other day and saw 5 people using lumia 800's they'd purchased, and there was a big line to use the demo unit in both carrier stores

Wow, would you say that the 800 launch was as big a launch in Europe as the 900 is in America?

Haha New Zealand isn't in Europe but the lumia is definitely the most promoted phone aside from the iPhone here currently though.

By the way, I want to say that WebOS multitasking, especially on WebOS, is by far the best of any mobile OS I've ever used. Just simply fantastic.

To be honest I've only known one person that owned a windows phone and they just bought a iPhone 4S. As far as seeing someone with a windows phone, well I've only ever seen one person that I didn't know that had one. Oh and by the way I live in the US.

lol true. Oh and I got to try out the lumia 900 for the first time today. I didn't get to spend enough time with it though. It was very nice looking and very fast/smooth.

and now that WebOS is almost open source....it is just gonna get better..but sadly won;t have the same kind of hype and takers

Because HP has killed it. Don't get me wrong I really like WebOS, but this was rated by potential. If I were to rate it on how much I liked it then it would go something like this.

1. Android
2. Windows
3. WebOS
4. iOS
5. Blackberry

I put windows second because I really haven't had enough time with it and believe I would like it. Plus, I already know I love android so that get #1 spot until I get a chance to try windows out.

Tethering on the lower data plans has always been one of the draws to rooting Android handsets. Personally I feel that mobile data plans as they currently are do little more than rip off the consumer. With the availability of wifi higher than ever, mobile data is being used less and less but prices do not reflect it.

Agreed, I don't have, nor do I need a data plan.
