Yesterday Nokia sent out a press release announcing that the Lumia 800 will be coming to Australian carriers. Inside that press release it was mentioned that the 800 would be coming in black, cyan, magenta, and white. Along with several other sites, we reported on white being an available color because there had been several rumors pointing to this. However, this morning we have discovered that the press release on Nokia’s site no longer lists white as a color.

Here is the second paragraph of the PR yesterday:

Available in black, blue (Cyan), pink (Magenta) and white, the Nokia Lumia 800 delivers a great all-round smartphone experience combining Nokia’s strength in design, navigation and camera quality with the latest Windows Phone experiences which include out-of-the-box integrated social networking, access to Marketplace apps and Xbox gaming.

and now today:

Available in black, blue (Cyan) and pink (Magenta), the Nokia Lumia 800 delivers a great all-round smartphone experience combining Nokia’s strength in design, navigation and camera quality with the latest Windows Phone experiences which include out-of-the-box integrated social networking, access to Marketplace apps and Xbox gaming.

You can see the press release on Nokia’s site right here. You can see what it looked like yesterday in our post here, and on WPCentral. This was even reported on SlashGear, and Mobileburn.

So what gives? Did Nokia speak too soon? Will it come in white later on? We hope they haven’t totally scrapped the white version, because it really does look awesome. Still, it’s very strange to change a PR without telling anyone.

UPDATE: Nokia has said this was an error, and there will be no white model available. Boo.
