Today Viber released its beta onto the Windows Phone Marketplace, bringing Windows Phone into the fold with iOS and Android users who have enjoyed free texting and calling. The only catch here is that the beta allows texting and photo messaging, but not voice calling which is the main purpose of the app.
It’s curious that a company that is known for allowing its users to make free voice calls over WiFi would leave something so huge out of its beta release. It’s interesting that Windows Phone VoIP clients seem to be gimped before they’re even out of the gate, as was the evidence with Skype which shed its beta tag just last week. Anyhow, if you’re interested in checking out the beta it should be available soon. Meanwhile, complain in the comments if you’re understandably disappointed.
