Microsoft announced several launch partners for Windows Phone 8, but among them was Chinese manufacturer Huawei and not competitor ZTE. To date, ZTE has launched two Windows Phone handsets, including the ZTE Tania and the ZTE Orbit. The company even recently announced that it expects Windows Phones to make up 10% of its future shipments. Now, despite not being announced as a launch partner, ZTE has announced that it will begin to deliver Windows Phone 8 in Q2 or 2013.

Deputy General Manager Kan Yu Lun announced the company’s intentions, stating that with Windows Phone still in initial stages in China, the company hopes to get into the market early and help increase marketshare of Windows Phone and ZTE handsets.
