Microsoft announces upgrade to Windows 8 Pro will cost only $39.99

We’ve been waiting to hear about pricing for Windows 8, and we’ve been expecting a lower than usual price point. Microsoft has just announced on the Windows Blog that upgrade cost for users running Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7 will be just $39.99.

Using Windows.com to upgrade will provide you with an Upgrade Asisstant. It will walk you through the steps, check for compatiibility, and warn you of anything you need to address before installation. The Upgrade Assistant will also help you choose what stuff you want to keep from your current system. Users on Windows 7 will be able to bring just about everything along to Windows 8 Pro, including files, settings, and apps.

There is much more in depth instalation information at the source link below. The most important thing to note is Microsft is finally lowering the price of their software. This should make Windows 8 adoption much easier.
