Windows Phone 8 is “part of the world’s largest ecosystem,” says Microsoft

When Windows Phone 7 first arrived Microsoft used an ad campaign with the message “a phone to save you from your phone.” We all remember the “Really?” commercials, and for most of us that campaign worked. As recent market share numbers indicate it wasn’t enough to convince most people. So what will?

The slide above from Microsoft’s WPC event shows a possible new direction for the Windows Phone marketing campaign. The last line reads “part of the world’s largest ecosystem.” Of course they’re talking about Windows PC’s, and the enormous part of the market they dominate. This is a very smart move by Microsoft, and one they should have been using since Day 1. Hopefully it is much more successful than “Really?”
