Acer will offer free Windows 8 upgrade for select ultrabooks

Microsoft currently has a promotion going that will get you Windows 8 for only $15 with the purchase of a new Windows laptop. If you’re not able to take advantage of that you will still be able to upgrade to Windows 8 for only $49.99 in October. However, if you’re lucky enough to be the owner of an Acer ultrabook you may not have to pay anything.

Acer is offering to refund users of select ultrabooks for the Windows 8 upgrade fee. To be eligible you need to purchase an Aspire S3, Aspire S5, Aspire M3, or Aspire M5 between June 2nd (last month) and January 31st. There is one catch: this offer is not valid in the U.S. or Canada. Acer is only offering the refund in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
