Here’s an interesting bit of news for all of you hinging on details surrounding Windows Phone 8. According to a new report from WPDang, Windows Phone 8 could be designed to support USB mass storage for file management. The biggest benefit of this is the elimination of Zune software as a means to manage your files on the device. This was a major disadvantage for me coming from Android, where I was used to being able to drag and drop files.
According to these rumors, drag and drop will be enabled for simple file management and the phone will treat microSD cards as mounted drives so the device itself could be mounted to the PC for ease of use. This is great news for getting Windows Phone in the hands of more people, as being tied to cumbersome software is really something you should only do if you’re Apple.
