It’s been pretty bleak news for the past few months of Windows Phone growth, but it looks like July has stifled that somewhat. According to Statcounter, there was 24% growth of Windows Phone installs, bringing the total marketshare for the EU to 1.68%. The second biggest month was February, which saw the release of the Nokia Lumia 800.
The same has held true for the USA as well, where the install base has grown 19%. The second highest month was May, which followed the release of the Lumia 900. It’s interesting to note these changes and the discussion about how well Windows Phone is doing as a platform may have inadvertently helped it to grow. We’re looking forward to seeing what kind of growth we’ll see in October and November, when Windows Phone 8 is widely available.
