From the Forums: Microsoft Surface tips & tricks

Windows RT (and Windows 8 in general) rely a lot on gestures that are not immediately obvious. These gestures are hidden, and Microsoft doesn’t do a great job of showing new users what they do. A member in our forums was kind enough to make a video to showcase some of these gestures that new Surface users might not know about.

The gestures mentioned in the video are swipe down and semantic zoom. Swiping an app down will close it, which is especially useful when you don’t have a mouse to right click and close an app. Semantic zoom is used all over the OS, including the Start screen. The example in the video is the photo gallery app.
