Last month we reported that Microsoft would be killing off their points system for purchasing games and other content. Leaked images revealed Windows gift cards that would be used to buy many different things with real cash. Today at their E3 event Microsoft confirmed that report. This is a great day for many people.
Microsoft’s virtual currency has never had much support from users, and it’s no mystery why. Instead of just paying the exact amount of something you have to figure out how many points you need, and hope you don’t have any left over. Thankfully that is all behind us. Microsoft exec. Marc Whitten said “We’re moving to real money.” One thing that still is up in the air is what will happen to existing points.
Are you as happy as we are to see Microsoft Points be killed off? Long live cash!
