New Windows Phone Start Screen Revealed

Ashley is a 26 year old with an enthusiasm for all things technology related. She hails from the Southern United States and when she's not tweaking her Android handset, she can usually be found in front of the computer or Xbox 360 enjoying the latest game releases.

Perhaps the biggest change announced during the Windows Phone Summit is a change to the way the start screen functions. Tiles are still present, but the size allowance has been completely revamped. The smallest size is a corner of the current space available on Windows Phone 7, meaning you can get more than four times the same apps available on your start screen.

Additionally, the arrow on the right side of the screen that leads into the apps has disappeared, though the functionality of accessing these apps is the same. This is a great change as it frees up quite a bit of space for your tiles.

All of these tiles are still live tiles, so you can get all of the information you need, directly as you always have. This size allowance allows people to customize start screens the way you want. In addition, more colors are available for those of you who have wanted more since the launch of Windows Phone 7.
