When Microsoft unveiled the Surface tablet for Windows 8 the first thought on a lot of people’s minds was “does this mean they will make a phone too?” There has been no shortage of mock-ups and renders of what a “Surface Phone” might look like, but it seems Microsoft is perfectly happy with what their partners are doing with phones. Senior Product Manager Greg Sullivan has had a lot to say about Windows Phone 8, and he had even more to say in an interview with Pocket-lint:
Our hardware partners are doing some really cool things for the Windows Phone 8 launch. We are really excited by the hardware we are seeing from our current partners. We are big believers in them.
Microsoft created the Surface tablet in an attempt to show the industry what Windows 8 can be. If Microsoft is happy with what partners are doing with phones they won’t need to step in and show them what to do. But don’t worry, we will still have some great hardware at launch from HTC, Samsung, Nokia, and Huawei.
