Nokia Patents Flexible Hinges for Tablet Design

You’d have to be a blind man living in a cave not to know that despite the Microsoft Surface announcement, Nokia is working on a tablet of their own. A new patent has appeared for a flexible, low profile hinge with a connector that is suitable for use in tablets and smartphones that incorporate a foldable design.

This isn’t the first time Nokia has expressed interest in a bendable design, but it’s certainly likely that we’ll see it sooner rather than later with this recent patent filing under the company’s belt. It’s always interesting to see these new patent filings, but of course these are just tools in the company’s arsenal, rather than guaranteed products. Still, what sort of devices would you like to see take advantage of a hinge like this? Would you buy a flip phone again if it was smart?
