That’s a wrap, folks! Windows 8 development is now complete. Release to Manufacturing (RTM) code is now ready for Microsoft’s partners to use on their PCs and tablets. This gives hardware manufacturers plenty of time to get devices in tip-top shape in time for October 26th when Windows 8 is available to everyone.

The Windows Store will go live on August 15th. That’s a little over two months for the Store to start filling up with apps before October 26th. Microsoft says they will continue to monitor Windows 8 even though it has reached RTM. This is just the start of what should be a very exciting couple of months.
