Nokia Says Tablet Comments in Recent Interview were “Misconstrued”

In an interview with the Financial Times that went public yesterday, Nokia’s Jorma Ollila went on record suggesting that Windows 8 tablets were not far off in the future of the company, even going so far as to mention hybrid models of what we can only assume will be similar to Asus’ Nexus Phablet.

The comment that brought down the ire of a Nokia spokesperson stated, “Tablets are an important one, so that is being looked into, and there will be different hybrids, different form factors in the future.” Of course the general public has suspected that the bromance between Nokia and Microsoft would result in a tablet soon and these comments only seem to reinforce that belief.

However, today a Nokia spokesperson responded to the quotes in the interview, calling the reaction to the comments as misconstrued. The spokesperson says that the tablet ecosystem is always a viable option, but it doesn’t want to give the impression that a tablet is being worked on until it has been officially announced.
