With all the hubbub over the iPad mini and the Nexus 7, several people have been wondering whether or not Microsoft has plans to debut a 7-inch Windows 8 tablet of its own. According to a Microsoft representative, neither itself nor any of its partners will be debuting any such tablet in the future.
Tami Reller is corporate vice president and CFO of Microsoft’s Windows Group and in an interview with Wired UK, she said the company has maintained a focus on 10.1 inch tablets for the launch time frame for Windows 8. Tami’s reply to the affirmation that the company had no plans to enter the 7-inch market in the launch time frame was a simple, “correct.”
It’s interesting to note that while this does cross out any chance of a Windows 8 7-inch tablet within the next few months, once the launch time frame expires, anything could happen.
