If you’re using Windows 8 there is really nothing wrong with watching YouTube in the browser. However, if you have a device with a touchscreen you might be wishing for something a little more optimized for fingers. Metrotube is the best option to date for a modern YouTube app for Windows 8.
Metrotube is a popular YouTube app for Windows Phone devices, and just last week they released their Windows 8 app. If you’ve ever used the phone version you will feel right at home with the Windows 8 app. Almost all of the same great features are present in the Windows 8 version as well. You can sign in to view subscriptions, Watch Later, favorites, and uploads. On the video page you can adjust quality and read comments as well.
Metrotube for Windows 8 is easily the best YouTube app we’ve used. It’s very simple and straightforward to use. Some of the previous YouTube apps we’ve tried had a lot of bloat, but Metrotube is lean, mean, and quick. There are a few features from the phone version we’d like to see (pre-loading), but it’s still a very good first release. Check out our video to see it in action.
