Mark this as “something we never thought we would see.” Today Google has updated their Search app for Windows Phone 8. That’s right. Google updated their Windows Phone app. We’re just as surprised as you are. The Google Search app has been practically untouched since it was released a couple of years ago. So did Google butcher another app or did they actually improve it?
The latter, surprisingly. Google has improved the voice search and made the UI look like what you would find on Android. They’ve also made it easier to switch between images, news, and videos with a toolbar at the bottom. Other features include the ability to sign in to your Google account, better image viewing, and resolution enhancements.
Does anyone actually use Google for search on their phone? I find it hard to use anything other than Bing unless Microsoft would make it possible to launch other apps with the Search button. Could this be the start of more Google support for Windows Phone? Download the Google Search app below for free.
