Microsoft updates YouTube Windows Phone app to comply with Google’s demands

It’s been well documented that Google and Microsoft don’t get along very well, and that has been even more apparent with the recent YouTube conflict. Microsoft created a YouTube app without Google’s permission, Google got mad and sent a Cease and Desist, and now we’re here.

Today Microsoft sent out an update for the YouTube app to address some of the concerns Google had with the app. First and foremost they have removed the restricted video and offline video access. These features are not found in any official YouTube app, so we can’t be too upset to see them go. Microsoft told The Verge “”We have been in contact with Google and continue to believe that our two companies can work together to hone an app that benefits our mutual customers, partners and content providers.” We hope that is true.
