Microsoft removes YouTube app from Store, next version might be worth avoiding

youtube trap

Last week we reported that Microsoft and Google have finally agreed to create an official YouTube app together. As expected the current version has since been removed from the Windows Phone Store as we await the next update. Unfortunately it appears the next update won’t be a good one. Don’t be too quick to hit the “update” button.

The Verge is reporting that Microsoft is back to square one with API use. Google will only provide the iframe embed API, which basically means it will be the web app with a YouTube logo on top. Google still doesn’t want to provide Windows Phone users with anything, even when Microsoft is willing to do all the work. It’s really sad to see a company that says “don’t be evil” consistently shun users.

What confuses me is why Microsoft would give up on the already-made YouTube app knowing before hand how suck the new app would be.

  • ‘Scroogled’ indeed.

Unfortunately, Google’s anti-microsoft practices and Microsoft’s lack of support for some of the most basic of features has me honestly considering a return to iphone… Depressing.

Maybe this has something to do with no official Office products being available for Android.
