Skype for Windows 8 gets a performance update

Skype for Windows 8 is still fresh out of the oven, and there is a lot of improvements to be had. Today an update has appeared in the Windows Store that addresses a few performance issues and some Messenger integration.

Release notes:

  • Search people and groups
  • Call Messenger contacts
  • Improved Video Call Performance
  • General bug fixes

Skype does feel notably faster on my laptop after the update. There are still a few major things missing in the app. File transfer is still not supported, and group chats still don’t send out any notifications. Once these things are all fixed it will be right in line with the desktop client.
