Nokia Lumia 1030 ‘Phablet’ discovered in blurry photo [Update]

Lumia 1030

The Nokia Phablet may have finally shown its face. The curious photo above was posted on the French website NokiaDay.com. At first glance it looks like just a normal photo of some current smartphones lounging around, but look closely and there are some peculiar things to note. Most notably is a very large Nokia phone.

With a quick glance the phone appears to be a cyan Lumia 920, but look closely. The Start screen clearly has an extra column of tiles. The phone also appears to be larger than the HTC One right next to it, which has a 4.7″ display. Comparing it to the HTC One again we can see that it’s a pretty thin phone. In the far left there appears to be another cyan Nokia phone, but this one is thicker and more reminiscent of the Lumia 920. The phone on the right is definitely something new.

The device is apparently called the Lumia 1030, and the extra column of icons is due to the 1080p display it comes with. Before we go any further remember that this is not definitive proof that Nokia is making a phablet. By our eyes it doesn’t appear to be fake, but crazier things have happened. For now we’ll call this “plausible.” What do you think?

Update: It’s fake.

Looks pretty legit! Playing with it on Photoshop doesn’t display any obvious signs of it being fake. Let’s hope it’s really coming!

A fake device? Or did they fake the image? Sucks… looked nice. :(

Next time I end up in a Meeting with HTC or Nokia, I am going to ask them what in the heck goes through thier minds when one of these FAKE rumors gains this must traction.
Its basically like a FREE test of the market’s responce. They get to see how the market will respond to news of a Phablet for FREE, and the response is GOOD.
