Windows Phone 8.1 will finally make NFC tags useful

You didn’t think we were done with Windows Phone 8.1 leaks yet, did you? At this point we might as well call it a flood. The next feature to get shown off fro the 8.1 SDK is NFC. Currently you can’t really do much with NFC. It doesn’t make anything easier.

Microsoft’s purchase of Nokia will be finalized in March

Almost six months ago Microsoft announced their purchase of Nokia’s hardware division. Nokia wants to have the deal done by the end of this quarter, and today they reiterated that in a press release.

Among the dozens of Windows Phone 8.1 leaks in the last week there is one comment I have seen a few times: “what about background wallpapers?” There is a small contingent of users that really want to have a background wallpaper on their Start Screen, like in Windows 8.

Well folks, this is it. The evidence has been piling up about Nokia unveiling their first Android phone later this month. So far Nokia has not said a word, or even teased anything, about it. That changed yesterday when all of Nokia’s social media accounts suddenly went green.

Windows Phone 8.1 Calendar will include weather forecasts

One app that is getting several new features in Windows Phone 8.1 is the Calendar. The Windows Phone Calendar has always been low on features, especially after Google Sync stopped working. We’ve already seen the new week view, multiple Google Calendar support, and now another cool feature for the Calendar is weather forecasts.

The hits just keep on coming. We’ve been seeing Windows Phone 8.1 leaks all week-long, and today is starting just the same. This time we are talking about the web browser. Internet Explorer has taken a lot of flack for lagging behind other mobile web browsers.

For the most part Nokia has a very uniform design language across all of their devices. The classic Lumia design most people think of actually started back with the Nokia N9, just before they started with Windows Phone. Nokia has used that same design, with slight changes, on most of their devices since then.

Nokia Normandy/X pricing revealed to be amazingly low

The Nokia “Normandy” X is coming later this month at MWC. We know a lot about this crazy device, but one thing we have yet to find out is the price. It’s expected to be a very low-end device, like the Lumia 520. We have been speculating about the price being somewhere in the $100 range.
